The Salt Cellar buildings have overlooked the harbour of Porthleven for close to two hundred years. They were constructed in 1816 as a salt warehouse serving the local fishing community.
The top two floors have now been converted into a series of workshops and studios housing local artists. Inside you’ll find an eclectic mix of craftspeople and artists at work, drawing inspiration from the Cornish sea and countryside to produce unique, handcrafted work.
Artists use a range of materials including felt, wool, fabrics, willow, slate, ceramics and driftwood salvaged form local beaches.
Work produced within the Salt Cellar workshops is sold nationwide and it is possible to buy items or arrange commissions with artists working in the building.
