Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump

Who loves going to festivals and scouring the programme to find the band with the weirdest name? We do.

Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump combine an eight piece brass-band with a rapper. And we couldn’t resist contacting them for a chat. It seems they’re fans of ours too…

How’s your 2018 been so far?

We’ve been working on new material and booking gigs

And what are you up to right now?

Putting together the final touches to an epic Cuban piece, which should ready to go in a couple of weeks.

What can Porthleven Food Festival visitors expect when they come to watch you play?

The most wonderful musical experience there have ever encountered! A veritable smorgasbord of delights, much like Porthleven Food Festival!

Where do you want to be in ten years?

Right here, headlining at PFF….

And what’s your favourite experience of the last ten?

Playing at Falmouth Pavilions with Broken Brass….or playing at Boardmasters….

Where’s your favourite place to eat and why?

Porthleven Food Festival, because of the fabulous variety of cuisine that is available in such a superbly well organised event.

What are you looking forward to about the Food Festival after your slot? Will you be staying for the weekend? Bringing anyone with you?

We’ll be looking forward to seeing the other bands over the weekend and yes, we’ll be bringing loads of chums.

Do you know Porthleven and if so what stands out for you? If not what are you looking forward to?

Yes, the Ship Inn is probably the best pub in the world.

See Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump on the Lime Kiln stage on Friday at 2:40pm. They’re presented in conjunction with BBC Music Introducing.
